I spent 10 summers at Tarigo and it was a big part of my life. I have many great memories and think of it often, particularly as I have sent each of my 4 kids to overnight camp (and am now broke!) About 7 or 8 years ago, I took my family to Tarigo and walked around the deserted camp which was a bittersweet experience. After driving up Redkill Road I saw the Tarigo sign (the "A" was missing) and got chills when I saw it. It's nice to connect with so many familiar names.

Many thanks to Bill and Ricky for working up our new user-friendly site. It looks great. It's been a challenging couple of months with my dad and mom (big fans of Tarigo!) here on LI both passing away and within a few weeks of each other. The memories of time spent with many of you are one part of what's helping me through all this. Take good care of yourself.

I took a ride with my son years ago and found the old camp location. It was sad to see what was left of it. A lot of fond memories.

Can't believe this website has been up for 8 years & I'm just finding it. It was great to see so many familiar names & photos. For the record, I'm a real estate developer living in Washington, DC. Married with an 18 year-old daughter and 16 year-old son. Any plans for another reunion?

I still always think about Tarigo and what a great time I had, and it continued through all the other camps we went to even though it wasn't in Fleischmann's, trupin, algonquin and finally westmont.

I'd like to remind everyone that there is a Museum in Fleischmanns that is very interested in any Tarigo memorabilia that anyone may care to donate. If you have anything that you'd like the museum to have, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the curtor of the museum (or vice versa,if you wish)

so many great memories...I am reminded every summer when I go to my summer house in Fleischmanns...Seems so long ago especially when I have 3 children ages 16-20! but it also seems like yesterday. I am happy to say that I still stay in contact with some of the wonderful friends I made during those summers. I still am a pretty good athlete! Although no longer married I actually met my ex husband there...

Dear Friends:
I enjoyed the short time I was there. I already knew the people who came over from Alamar. I had gone there since 1956. I don't know if anyone remembers me. If you do, feel free to e-mail me and we'll catch up. Nice to be on this website again,
Eric Fradkin

David Wadro was one of our more memorable friends. Sadly, he was one of the younger TARIGOites to pass away in the 1970's. I remember that April 1st was his birthday and Wayne and I still call each other every year in memory of David. We tried to find Cindi, his sister to no avail. Did anyone keep in touch with Cindi Wadro? So Happy Birthday David! Welcome to cyberspace.
Don Fine:
I was David Wadro's counselor in 1961. He was a good little kid, and I liked him a lot. Everyone did.

The other day my 18 year old daughters asked why I hadn't gone to Woodstock. I told them it was a lack of imagination on my part; now I think it's just a lack of recollection. Next time they bring it up, I'm gonna tell them what really happened! Thanks, Neil! All our beat for your son's speedy and safe return.

Just a quick hello to those I spent fun and interesting times with at Tarigo. Fond memories...I have taken my children to see the camp: my daughters saw the Rec Hall before it was torn down...we wandered inside and they could see signatures of those of us who passed through! This past summer I took my oldest daughter and my son to Woodstock and we stopped by the camp, went down to the lake...fun memories.

I'm a southern belle now, since we more to Mobile in 1991. My husband got a job offer "he couldn't refuse" at the med school & I worked as a genetic counselor 'til I retired several years ago. We have 2 sons, Ari & Andy, 1 daughter-in-law, no grandbabies YET!
Ira Povell & I were the Roman captains. We LOST to Elaine Halper (Cahn), Viking captain; I forgot her partner's name.
Bill Cooper:
Perry Kozlow was the other captain.

I'd like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Landman for tricking Rick into going to camp, because otherwise we wouldn't have this terrific website. (To learn how she did it, read the transcript of Rick's monologue given at the 2005 Reunion.) I'd also like to express my relief upon learning that Freddy Berins made it safely out of Cuba after the revolution. (To learn about my anxiety, read my comments on page two of the Nostalgia link.) Finally, I'd like to express my shock at learning that during the 1970s Donny Fine and I lived in adjacent buildings on the same NYC street. We probably passed each other a hundred times. How could I have known it was him? You never knew what weight he'd show up at.

I have many fond memories from my years at Tarigo- my only regret is that I listened to the directors and didn't go to Woodstock Festival, because they threatened to fire me. They threatened that many times. I should have known they wouldn't have done it.
I eventually will take a picture of the plaque I have in my closet for those of you who remember the ROMANS and VIKINGS
color war mosaic plague and post it. Anyone know who won and what was the score? By the bye, my son has just returned from Iraq-the crazy Marine-no one would believe this peacenick would have a Marine for a son.
You never know-unfortunately after he gets home from his base in Okinawa he will probably have to return to the WAR. Please pray for the soldiers and get out of that hell hole. They are waiting for us to leave and they will kill each other anyway. Regards to all that loved me and hated me. NEIL
Bill Cooper:
I also couldn't get out of camp to go to Woodstock, only my camp was in the Annamite Mountains instead of the Catskills. I wish your son didn't have to go back to Camp Iraq. I can't believe the ordeal that the criminal Bush administration put our young men through. Your son will be in my prayers.

Glad to see this up and running! Billy Cooper always did do things quickly and well. I'll definitely contact those few people from Tarigo that I'm still in touch with and tell them about this. Many thanks to you guys!

What a fantastic job has been done with restoring memories/photos and e-mail addresses. I just get goose bumps when I read/recall many the many activities that have been part of my younger years spent at TARIGO. I can still recall my first year, packing my trunk getting ready for my first summer.
Here's a fond memory...Uncle Pacy calling us "boobala."(spelling?)
I can understand the excitement when a camper or counselor is fondly remembered. I recently connected with one of mine...Linda Rashkow.
Keep the memories coming. I hope some of you remember me as well.

A few months ago I had to upgrade our old website to meet the GeoPro standards and as a result, we now have more capacities. One major difference is that we could launch a PHP Advanced Guestbook, but I didn't know what that was. But thanks to Bill Cooper (has story is on the Nostalgia Page of the website) he hired a "techy person" to get this up and running. Once again, a TARIGOite came to my aid and now we should be able to leave longer messages and communicate with each other. Thank you Bill.
